Today was a pretty good busy day.

I took Champ to the doctor today. It couldn't have gone better. The nurse was wearing Denver Bronco scrubs and when I told her that my husband is a fan too and that we call Leslie by his middle name Champ, which of course comes from Champ Bailey, she laughed and thought that rocked and told Champ he was a cool little dude! Our "cool little dude" now weighs 11lbs 6 oz and is 24 inches long. The doctor said that everything is just perfect! Then Champ got his shots...and he did awesome. She held his legs down and he didn't seem to care at all, and I was holding his little hands. He looked up at me and quivered his

little lip and cried but didn't scream, then I picked him up and he was just fine. Surprisingly enough I didn't cry! Having a baby of my own has made me a little more tough than I used to be, granted I still think I'm pretty emotional and sensitive but not quite as bad!

After Champ's appointment we went to see my friend Melonnie who had her baby girl this morning. Mia is Champ's girlfriend and she is just a doll. They had a hard time getting pregnant over the last four years so I know how much of a blessing Mia is to them. We switched babies for a little bit and also got a cute picture of the two together.

After having baby time I had a doctors appointment as well, and it sucked going to that office and not seeing my doctor. Once again, still sad that he retired. When we got put in the room, Champ fell asleep and I had to pee REALLY bad, and they had me use a restroom on the other side of the office, so I ran and went and as soon as I walked out I heard a baby crying on the other side of the office...Champ woke up and was freaking out but as soon as he saw my face he was fine. I love that!

Then we came home and I did a little project for my boss...her boyfriend's cat died and she wanted to make him a shadow box so I did it for her. She asked me to put some of the cats hair in it...is that creepy or what?
Here's also some more pictures of my little man...I need a new stinkin' camera. I think I've dropped mine too many times, my memory card is not being friends with my camera and I don't know how to make them be friends again. If anyone knows anything about silly little cameras feel free to tell me how retarded I am.

Champ is such a talker these day and he has been much happier and less fussy too which is nice! He's getting to be so much more fun with all of the things he does and its so awesome watching all of the little facial expressions he can do too. He is so into just staring and watching things. He is such a curious boy!

Quick Note

I thank God everyday that I have a beautiful happy healthy boy in my arms. He is truely one amazing piece of work, and when he looks up at me with those blue eyes my heart just melts. There is no greater feeling than the feeling of being a mommy. And I don't think you can ever know the feeling of it until you have your own little one in your arms!
Our little Monkey is 9 weeks old today and oh boy how is has grown!

Last Friday was Joe's first day home with Champ. It started out okay at the very beginging but once he woke up from him morning nap he was not pleased that he was home with daddy! He sure did test Joe's patients! But after the boys overcame their little issue and Champ took another nap Joe took him to run some errands which included stopping by mommy's work to show him off again! He's been there once but he's grown so much more since that first time I took him in to show him off!

Last Friday night we also went to the drive in to go see GI Joe and The Goods. You gotta love the drive-in...two different movies, you get to bring all your own food and drinks and hey you can bring the baby! Champ was asleep before we got that which was nice because Joe and I got to chat and eat our dinner. Then right before the movie started he woke up and got in his pajamas, another great reason for the drive-in, you can be in your pajamas! Champ ate, stayed up for awhile and then went back to sleep. I wish I could tell you how the movies are but I had been up since 4 that morning so towards the end of the movie I was out right along with Champ!! It was definately fun though!

The next day my mom and her boyfriend came into town. I already had plans to go out with the girls so she kicked Joe out as well and babysat for us. I had tons of fun and it was all for Lana's bachlorette party. (pictures to come...right Lana?) Babies must know who there grandmas are from instinct or something! My mom hadn't seen Champ since we were in the hospital and it sure seemed like he knew who she was right away! It must be a special thing grandmas have because he is the exact same way with my bosses mom who watches him on Tuesdays. Champ just starts grinning and talking as soon as he sees her. This week Champ got to go see her two times this week because our normal babysitter's baby was sick, and unfortunately Champ won't see his normal babysitter at all this week. Luckily I found a backup. She is the wife of one of the technicians that works with Joe. I love that we already know her, but she lives out in Draper so my butt is going to have to wake up earlier than normal to take Champ. It will be worth it though to not have Champ get sick. I think I have been pretty lucky about the people that we've, I mean I've, found to be with our little Champ. I was never put in daycare so I just don't know how I feel about it. I do know that I feel great about the people who do have him throughout the week.

A little Champ update...Monkey has been sleeping great at night. He only wakes up once and then goes right back to sleep after he eats. I do have to admitt that I love snuggling with my little guy and after he is done eating he sleeps the rest of the morning with me. He is usually up between 3 and 4 so its not like its all night, but I sure do love it! And if for some reason he wakes up more than normal tonight, I am never going to talk about him sleeping again!

And Champ has a doctors appointment on Thursday and I'm really excited to see how much he has grown, and not quite so excited to hear him cry when he gets his shots. Ten bucks says I'll be crying along with him!

So I was told that because I hadn't blogged in awhile that I needed to blog some more.

Lets start from Champ!

On June 22nd being that I was past due I had to go in for a non-stress test. I was feeling very eh that morning (come to find out I was having contractions all morning!). We went in to get the ultrasound done, found out that I had very low fluid, then went up to L&D to get the non-stress test done. They hooked me up and because I had low fluid they went to call my Dr. and came back and told me that I was having a baby! I got induced at about 2:30 pm and I didn't progress at all until about 6 in the morning and the progression was hardly any at all. We were so worried I was going to have to have a c-section. Champ had to come out regardless and the Dr. was only giving us until the afternoon, but luckily things turned around and after 27 hours of labor (and I'm not complaining, I'd do it all over again) we met our Champ. Leslie Champ Edsall was 7lbs 2 oz and 20 inches long. The poor little guy came out with meconium so I didn't get to see him for a good 20 minutes, but after the nurses did their work I got to see and touch him for about 1 minute then they took him to the nursery. After about an hour and a half I got to hold my handsome boy!

The next day the hospital photograher walked into our room and asked if she could take Champs pictures. I never ever expected them to be so awesome. They had an actual photographer that came in and took pictures. They turned out awesome. Here are some of our favorites.

We had an awesome support team with us at the hospital, so I was never lonely and my nurses were awesome. I'm super sad that my Dr. retired. He retired June 30th so I didn't even get to see him for my next appointment. He was just amazing and I hope that I can find another doctor who is just as great for the next kiddo.

Joe's sister Vicky who flew in from NY just two days before was also there and Cory. I think they were taking this picture.
Heres aunt Vicky! She as well as my mom stayed the first night in the hospital with us.

We spent our first night at home with just the three of us, and I'm glad we did. Although I'm sure it would have been nice having a mom there to help, I'm glad we didn't. When we got home we decided that we needed to change Champ. I set him on the bed and as soon as I took off his diaper he peed all over himself and our bed. The poor boy was sceaming, (I would too under the circumstances) Joe then proceeded to ask me why I wasn't prepared to change him as I was trying to clean things up, I then looked at him and started bawling. He felt bad and just hugged me, apoligized and then helped me change the sheets. I can honestly say that I will never forget that moment. It sounds silly but it was a very sentimental moment!

Joe took awesome care of me for about a week and then had to go back to work. Then we had visitors! My sister and her family came and stayed 4 days with us. Then we had a week by ourselves then Joe's family came for a week, then another week by ourselves then my little sister came and stayed for a week. And now its so nice having our own family routine, if you can call it that, Joe and I aren't much for routine! But I think we have finally gotten into the groove of our own family thing.

Where to begin...
Champ was finally born June 23rd! He is 8 weeks old this week. Can't believe how the time flies. He is getting so big, and we already have a "doesn't fit" pile of his clothes. Its been really awesome being at home, and its been an awesome summer. It was great having visitors and spending time with our family. Did I mention I had a birthday in between that time, and I pretty darn good one at that.
I think its pretty amazing being a mommy. I was kind of worried about it before Champ got here but I think we've done pretty well together. He is a good baby and the most awesome thing in our life. He is changing so much these days. Since the day I brought him home I've called him my Monkey. He has these crazy long arms and legs, and huge feet! He is starting to get a little chunk on him these days too! So cute. And he definately looks like his daddy. But he doesn't have blonde hair, and its not quite as dark as mine, but he does have blue eyes...oh how I love them! I love my blue eyed boys! Champ certainly has my nose and Joe's chin. He has long toes like I do and his ears stick out like his Pop's ears stick out (Pops would be Grandpa Les aka Joe's dad). Champ just melts my heart and my boys are my everything! (I love saying my boys!)

Champ has starting smiling and cooing these last couple weeks, and everytime Joe comes in the door and starts talking to Champ after work, Champy goes nuts!

Cory officially moved last weekend. It was really hard for Joe to say bye, and it was hard for me too. We love Cory, and we hope him the best on his new job, even if its across the country.
I went back to work on Monday and I thought I did pretty well. I didn't cry about it until after I dropped him off at the baby sitter's house and got to work! Leaving Champ at the sitters was hard, I'm hoping it will get easier. (I think its cool that her name is Kori! We've just added another Kori to our lives! Thank you Chelsey Roberts!) I don't work on Thursdays so that will always be nice...having that day to look forward to, and Joe actually has a rotating schedule so he'll have Champ some days at home with him. I think all in all it worked out nicely.
And you know, I was thinking that I'm not at all a walking zombie. Even though Joe doesn't wake up with Champ in the middle of the night, I've done quite well. The last week has been easier for sure though. We made a pretty easier transition from co-sleeper to crib last Thursday. It only took Champ a couple of nights to get used to it, and he has been sleeping quite well in it. He'll go done anywhere between 8 and 10 and he only wakes up once to eat and goes back to sleep until about 6 or 7. It does make it easier because his crib is in our room, but there was no way I am putting him downstairs all by himself yet.

Now that I officially have the internet at home, I'll for sure blog more often and keep everyone updated on our little guy.
